It looks like the SAU Vic motorkhanas are back in 2015! Setting up the course at the Foresite Training facilities in Laverton, the SAU Vic team hosted a full day of smoking tyres, handbrake turns and lots of smashed witches hats!
No surprise to see the lineup of cars was dominated by Nissan and Skylines.
Every Skyline generation was out to tackle the tight course. Even the R35 GTR was out showing the older generations how to maneuver a 1700kg car between a set of cones.
The older gen Skylines weren’t to be outdone though, providing plenty of smoke and entertainment.
It’s great to see the popularity of Skylines hasn’t faded over the years. R34s were present…
As well as the older R33s and R32s.
Even a four door R32 came out to shred some tyres. Looked immaculate on R33 GTR wheels too!
Didn’t matter if you had AWD or RWD…the course suited all types of cars.
…and provided for plenty of spins and tyre frying moments.
The lightweight RWD Silvia chassis is perfect for this type of motorsport. They looked right at home too with their low stance…
…and choice of ‘drift stickers’!
This is possibly the cleanest and straightest Sileighty in existence.
Although this is more of what we’re used to seeing on a Silvia – mismatched body panels and battle scars. Didn’t seem to have any affect on its ability to get sideways around the course though!
The other green s14 there was this time attack s14 with plenty of aero and modifications to save weight.
Top Secret inspired Toyota Supra turned up to keep the Nissans in check. We don’t see nearly enough Supras out at track days so hopefully more make their way out in the future.
Lotuses sure know how to spin the tyres.
Guessing no carpet and a lightweight chassis and heaps.
Although displacement and big power overcomes most things!
But the most interesting car there was this Lotus kit car…fitted with Nissan’s SR20 underneath!
We don’t think anyone left the day not having a blast tearing up the Foresite Training facilities! So if you want to get to the next event, keep an eye out on our Circuit Calendar for more track days in your state or check out the SAU Vic Events section to find out about more SAU track days.
